Remedies Dry Damaged Hair Home

There is nothing worse than trying to manage hair that is dry, brittle, and damaged at the ends. Plenty of costly salon treatments are available to help repair your hair, but no only do they take time, the expense can build up quickly. We have put together a list of our top home remedies for damaged and dry hair that you can do in the comfort of your own home.

Botanical Oil Treatment

You can find most botanical oils at any local store. Healthy oils such as jojoba, oil and almond oils make great elixirs for struggling hair. For thicker locks, you can even use coconut oil. Make sure your hair is slightly damp and then rub any of these oils into your hair thoroughly. Let it sit covered for a least a half of an hour before you wash your hair normally.

Feed Your Hair a Shampoo Omelet

Take your regular shampoo and mix in a single egg. Allow that to sit on your dry hair for about six minutes and then wash as usual. This method will boost the protein that is naturally in your hair.

Butter Massage

One way to treat hair that is brittle and dry is by doing a butter massage at home to restore its glossy shine. Simply take soften butter, massage it evenly into the scalp and then let it sit under a shower cap for 30 minutes. Shampoo as normal and then use a nourishing conditioner.

Avocado Hair Mask

Take a ripe avocado and remove the pit. Mash it up in a bowl, and then add an egg. Mix them together well until they form a paste. This should be applied to your hair while it is wet and allowed to sit for 20 minutes. The essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals in the fruit will help bring out the luster of your hair. After 20 minutes, rinse well. Repeat at least once weekly for the best results.

Olive Oil Conditioner

You can quickly moisturize your hair by rubbing in a half cup of warmed olive oil into your scalp. Once you have massaged the in the oil, cover your head with a plastic back or plastic shower cap. Next, wrap your head in a warm towel. Let this treatment sit for 45 minutes before rinsing your hair.

Tea Rinse

Tea is a great way to cure a sore throat, but it is also a great way to restore shine to your tresses. Take a quart of warm unsweetened tea that has been brewed and use it as the last rinse step in your hair washing routine. Not only will it boost your color, but it will also make your locks shiny.

Essential Oil Treatment

Make a mixture of jojoba oil and sandalwood oil and smooth it through the ends of your hair. It will instantly reduce dry strands and smooth flyaway hairs. If you don’t have either on hand, you can apply a few drops of hand lotion to the ends of damaged hair instead.

Wet Hair Wrap

Hair is most fragile when it is wet, instead of rubbing to remove water, wrap it up in a cotton towel instead. The cotton will absorb the moisture and help reduce the chance of further damage occurring.

Night Time Humidifier

Heating and air conditioning in a home or office can suck the life out of your hair. It sucks away moisture which dries out your hair causing it to become brittle. Using a humidifier in your room at night will help restore moisture and prevent further damage.

Nutritious vitamins such as omega-3s found in evening primrose oil, borage oil, and flaxseed are just what your body needs to generate strong hair and nails. Add a supplement to your daily diet to ensure that you are getting the right vitamins you need for healthy hair and skin.
