Foods That Make Your Skin Glow

More often than not, healthy skin reflects a healthy body on the inside. It shouldn’t be a surprise that if you fill your body with junk foods, that your skin will see the negative effects! In order to maintain glowing skin, eating healthy, keeping your stress levels low, and exercising regularly are just a few things you should do. Following skin tips and planning a skincare routine is also crucial in order to keep your skin looking radiant and youthful. Here at Beauty ‘N Fashion, we want to go into detail about the healthy foods you should eat in order to keep your skin looking healthy and beautiful all day long.

1. Pumpkin

Pumpkins are filled with all of the best vitamins and minerals. They are rich in zinc, which is a nutrient that helps create new skin cells, improve tones in the skin and regulates oil production. It even goes as far as shrinking the look of pores, making your skin look flawless and more beautiful than ever. If you’re wondering what way you should be eating pumpkin to get all of its benefits, the best way is by eating a handful of pumpkin seeds. You can also apply a face mask with pumpkin, milk and honey for up to 20 minutes.

2. Strawberries

This sweet treat is not only insanely delicious, but also really good for your complexion! Since these are full of alpha-hydroxy acids, these delicious ruby red gems help in getting rid of any dead skin cells. They also happen to boost the production of collagen, and decrease the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. If you are looking to lighten the tone of your skin, you’re in luck because strawberries do that as well! This is because they are jam packed with omega-3 fatty acids. The best way to get the benefits out of this fruit is by applying it onto your skin as a mask. Mix 1tbsp of cocoa powder, 1tbsp of honey and some mashed strawberries together and put on your face for 15 minutes. With time, you will see your skin glow and look better than ever.

3. Carrots

You may have heard about carrots being amazing for your eyesight, but that isn’t the only thing they are good for! Carrots play a huge factor in making your skin glow, as they contain beta carotene that has been proven to slow aging and prevent the degeneration of cells. They also contain a lot of vitamin C, which helps growth of collagen and reduces hyperpigmentation that comes from acne or scarring. The best way to get the best out of this food is by drinking it in juice form, or adding the juiced veggie to your salads.

4. Lemons

You may have heard about this one before, but we would like to go into detail as to how important this food is in making your skin look spectacular! Since lemons are packed with vitamin C, B and phosphorus, this is a great citrus that will make your skin shine. The natural acids of a lemon gently get rid of any dead skin cells and help lighten age spots. Lemons also happen to clean the pores, but don’t go as far as stripping the skin of it’s natural oils, giving you the perfect cleansed skin. If you are looking to add this into your next skincare routine, the best method to apply it is by mixing a spoon of lemon juice with grape juice and egg whites. This will create a mask that will make your skin look beautiful. You can also just directly apply lemon to the affected area, but make sure to avoid the area around your eyes as well as the sun if you’ve applied lemon directly on the skin!

5. Avocado

These delicious green fruits are full of antioxidants such as beta carotene (like the ones seen in carrots) and lutein. These nutrients help soften the skin, and can even hydrate the skin if applied directly. The best way to reap avocados benefits is by making a mask with 1tsp of honey and avocado. Eating them will also aid your body in getting the best of its nutrients, and in turn giving your skin a youthful glow.
